Artist Study - Ivan Chermayeff

Our assignment was to create posters to advertise upcoming art exhibits honoring great designers.  Each student presented different designers, and I presented Ivan Chermayeff. 

(The exhibit doesn’t actually exist though! It was an exercise!)

Ivan Chermayeff is a prolific designer and illustrator, who established a design firm with his friends at a young age.  He and his company produced many well known logos and designs. These included logos for Mobil, PBS, Chase Bank, etc.  He continues to practice his design in this company to this day. 

What I really liked about his design and style was that they were simple, clear in communication, and to the point.  Design was literally language to him.  Below are my interpretations of him and his design in three different posters.
